Direct-Fit Ignition Coil and Spark Plug Kit for 1999-2004 Ford F-350 (P131)
What it Does: The ignition coil and NGK spark plug kit replaces deteriorated factory ignition components on the 1999-2004 Ford F-350 to restore peak secondary voltage output, eliminate cylinder misfires, and stabilize heavy-load combustion.
The Stock Ford F-350 Ignition Breakdown
The 2-valve 6.8L Triton V10 operates under intense engine bay thermal cycles, especially during heavy payload and trailer towing. Over time, factory DG-508 coil packs suffer internal dielectric breakdown, micro-cracking across the magnetic core, and thermal fatigue in the silicone boots. Degraded insulation allows high-voltage arc-through to the cylinder head rather than the plug gap, resulting in hesitation under load, erratic idle, P0300-P0310 diagnostic trouble codes, and unburned fuel entering the exhaust stream.
The Engineering Solution
This complete 10-cylinder overhaul kit delivers robust high-dielectric epoxy potting and primary/secondary copper windings engineered to resist prolonged heat soak. Paired with genuine NGK spark plugs featuring precision-rolled threads and trivalent metal plating, this setup maximizes spark energy, resists flashover, and mitigates the blow-by tendencies common to early Modular modular cylinder heads. The oil- and ozone-resistant boots ensure an airtight, moisture-free seal down the deep spark plug wells.
