As OEM spark plug gaps widen from standard electrode erosion, the ignition system requires higher secondary voltage to bridge the gap, accelerating coil failure and resulting in P0300-P0306 misfire codes, rough idle, and unburned hydrocarbons damaging downstream catalytic converters.
