High-Amp 200A Alternator for 1991-1998 Jeep Cherokee (XJ)
What it Does: The 200-Amp High Output Alternator replaces the factory low-amperage charging unit on the 1991-1998 Jeep Cherokee to supply stable, high-current electrical output under heavy winching and auxiliary lighting loads.
The Stock Jeep Cherokee Charging System Bottleneck
Factory charging systems on the XJ Cherokee platform typically produce a restrictive 60 to 90 amps from the factory. While sufficient for stock factory switchgear, overland and off-road loads overwhelm this baseline capacity. Operating a high-draw recovery winch, high-CFM electric fan conversions, auxiliary LED light bars, or onboard air compressors causes severe system voltage drop below 12 volts. This voltage starvation leads to dimming headlights, compromised ignition coil voltage, and deep-cycle battery depletion that damages charging system diodes under heat soak.
The Engineering Solution
Engineered as a direct-fit bolt-in replacement, this 200-amp unit features heavy-gauge copper windings, precision stators, and high-capacity internal bridge rectifiers designed to deliver high idle amperage and clean DC power. Built with heavy-duty internal heat sinks and high-temperature bearings, it resists the extreme thermal radiation common in cramped XJ engine bays alongside the exhaust manifold. It directly replaces factory part numbers 13341, 56005685, and 10463782 without bracket modification.

Frequently Asked Questions & Fitment Warnings
Does this fit the XJ Cherokee?
Yes, this is a direct fit for the 1991-1998 Jeep Cherokee equipped with the AMC 150 2.5L or AMC 242 4.0L engine.
Do I need to upgrade wiring for this 200A alternator?
Yes, running a minimum 4-gauge or 1/0 battery-to-alternator charge lead with an inline fuse (Big 3 upgrade) is required to safely carry 200 amps without melting factory fusible links.
The Jeep Off-Road Reliability Standard
Engineered for technical rock crawling, heavy winching, and rugged backcountry navigation, this unit supplies consistent charging current to ensure your electronics operate at peak performance without stalling deep on the trail.
