High-Amperage 250A Alternator for 2003-2006 GMC Envoy (GMT360)
What it Does: The 250-amp high output alternator replaces the factory charging unit on the 2003-2006 Envoy to eliminate idle voltage drop and deliver consistent, heavy-duty electrical current to onboard accessories.
The Stock GMC Envoy Charging Deficiencies
The factory 105A or 145A charging units on the GMT360 platform fail to keep pace with increased electrical demand. Under continuous electrical load—such as auxiliary lighting, aftermarket audio amplifiers, or towing winches—the stock alternator suffers severe voltage sag, especially at engine idle speeds. Furthermore, the OEM rectifiers are prone to diode breakdown caused by sustained underhood heat soak, accelerating brush wear and leading to total charging system failure in high-draw conditions.
The Engineering Solution
Engineered for high current density and thermal resilience, this direct-fit 250-amp alternator features heavy-gauge copper stator windings and an upgraded rotor assembly designed to sustain peak output without voltage drift. High-amperage avalanche diode rectifiers resist thermal failure under severe heat soak, while a precision heavy-duty internal voltage regulator delivers steady, spike-free 14.4V charging across the entire RPM range. The precision-balanced rotor minimizes harmonic vibration, prolonging bearing life under demanding operating cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions & Fitment Warnings
Does this fit the GMT360 Envoy?
Yes, this is a direct fit for the 2003-2006 GMC Envoy equipped with the 5.3L LM4 or LH6 V8 engine, replacing OEM units such as 10464405 and 15263859.
Do I need to upgrade my charging wiring?
To safely handle the full 250-amp potential, performing a "Big 3" 1/0 AWG wiring upgrade between the alternator, battery, and chassis ground is strongly recommended.
