High-Amp 250A Alternator for 2015-2016 GMC Canyon (GMT 700)
What it Does: The 250-amp high output alternator replaces the factory unit on the 2015-2016 GMC Canyon to eliminate voltage sag and supply stable electrical current for high-draw auxiliary systems.
The Stock GMC Canyon Charging Limitations
The factory 150-amp unit installed on the GMT 700 platform struggles under expanded electrical duty. When powering aftermarket winches, communications arrays, snowplows, or high-draw auxiliary lighting, the OEM stator saturates thermally. This heat soak causes severe voltage drop down to 12.2V at idle, forcing the vehicle to pull reserve power directly from the battery, degrading cell life and stressing factory wiring harnesses.
The Engineering Solution
Manufactured in the USA, this direct-mount 250-amp upgrade features heavy-duty avalanche rectifier diodes, pure-copper stator windings, and a precision-balanced rotor capable of sustained high-amperage output. Engineered specifically for the LCV engine architecture, it delivers stable charging curves at low idle RPMs while maintaining OEM pulley alignment to prevent premature serpentine belt slip.

Frequently Asked Questions & Fitment Warnings
Does this fit the GMT 700 Canyon?
Yes, this is a direct fit for the 2015-2016 GMC Canyon equipped with the LCV engine. It is not compatible with 3.6L V6 or 2.8L Duramax diesel configurations.
Do I need to upgrade my main power wiring?
Installing an upgraded 0-gauge or 4-gauge B+ charge wire and chassis ground (Big 3 upgrade) is strongly recommended to safely carry the full 250-amp load.
The GMC Heavy-Duty Standard
Built to handle severe commercial fleet operation, extended overland runs, and demanding job-site electronics, this unit provides the uninterrupted amperage necessary to protect onboard modules and keep auxiliary equipment operating at peak efficiency.
