High-Output 250-Amp Alternator for 1994-2000 Ford Mustang (SN95)
What it Does: The 250-Amp High-Output Alternator replaces the factory charging unit on the 1994-2000 Mustang to eliminate idle voltage drop and maintain clean, stable 14-volt power across auxiliary electronics.
The Stock Ford Mustang Charging Deficiencies
Factory charging systems on the SN95 platform paired with the Essex 3.8L V6 were engineered with 95 to 130-amp stators designed strictly for factory auxiliary loads. When owners add electric cooling fans, upgraded stereo amplifiers, or high-volume fuel pumps, the factory alternator is pushed past its thermal limits. At low idle speeds, current generation plummets, triggering headlight dimming, under-voltage codes, and heat-induced diode failure inside the stock rectifier housing.
The Engineering Solution
This heavy-duty 250-amp unit delivers substantial charging capacity across the entire RPM band, ensuring ample amperage at engine idle. Precision-wound with heavy-gauge copper windings and paired with a heavy-duty diode bridge, it mitigates heat soak and eliminates voltage droop under heavy loads. The cast housing directly mounts to factory engine brackets, aligning with OEM serpentine drive geometry and superseding part numbers AL7534X, 7771, and F4ZU10300DA.
