High-Amp Heavy-Duty Alternator for 2003-2005 Ford Excursion, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 (P131 / U137)
What it Does: The 250 Amp High Output Alternator replaces the undersized factory charging unit on 2003-2005 Ford Excursion and Super Duty trucks to deliver stable 14.4-volt power and protect the Fuel Injection Control Module (FICM) under heavy electrical load.
The Stock Ford Excursion & Super Duty Electrical System Deficiencies
The factory 110A/135A OEM alternators on the 6.0L Power Stroke platform are notorious failure points. At cold startup, the intake air heater and glow plug circuit draw well over 100 amps alone, starving the dual battery bank. When coupled with the voltage-sensitive 48V FICM, auxiliary lighting, or winches, the factory internal bridge rectifier suffers severe heat soak. System voltage regularly drops below 12.5 volts during idle, burning out sensitive FICM power supply logic boards and leading to injector misfires and stranded trucks.
The Engineering Solution
Assembled in the USA, this heavy-duty 250-amp unit utilizes precision hairpin stator windings, heavy-gauge copper coils, and an upgraded high-efficiency 12-diode bridge rectifier. By delivering over 150 amps at idle and a full 250 peak amps at cruising RPM, it eliminates system voltage dips. The finned aluminum housing maximizes conductive thermal dissipation to prevent diode breakdown under prolonged towing loads, directly safeguarding your 6.0L Power Stroke electrical harness and batteries.

Frequently Asked Questions & Fitment Warnings
Does this fit the P131 and U137 Excursion, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550?
Yes, this is a direct bolt-on fit for 2003-2005 Ford Excursion and Super Duty trucks equipped with the 6.0L Power Stroke turbo diesel engine; it does not fit gas 5.4L V8 or 6.8L V10 engines.
Do I need to upgrade my main charging wire when installing this 250A unit?
Yes, running an upgraded 1/0 or 2-gauge fused charge wire alongside your factory harness is highly recommended to safely support the full 250-amp continuous output.
The Ford Heavy-Duty Workhorse Standard
When you are hauling heavy payloads or towing commercial trailers, low voltage is not an option. This 250A high-output unit delivers the industrial-grade current capacity your Super Duty demands under grueling conditions.
