High-Amp 300A High Output Alternator for 2012-2013 Dodge Charger (LD)
What it Does: The high output alternator replaces the lower-output factory charging unit on the 2012-2013 Charger to supply continuous 300-amp electrical capacity, stabilizing system voltage under extreme electrical loads.
The Stock Dodge Charger Charging Limitation
Factory alternators on the LD chassis cannot handle modern high-draw electrical demands such as competition audio setups, high-flow electric fuel pumps, aftermarket thermal cooling fans, and additional lighting. Under continuous high-amperage draws or engine bay heat soak, factory internal diodes overheat, triggering substantial voltage drop below 12.6V. This parasitic drop creates spark blowout, erratic powertrain control module (PCM) communication faults, and premature battery degradation.
The Engineering Solution
This Made-in-USA 300A unit resolves electrical starvation through high-efficiency hairpin windings, low-resistance copper stators, and high-temp rated internal rectifiers with heavy-duty avalanche diodes. Built inside a precision-cast aluminum housing for accelerated heat dissipation, it delivers superior idle amperage along with a stable 300-amp peak threshold. It maintains uninterrupted 14.4V charging voltage to safeguard vital vehicle computers and support power-hungry aftermarket accessories without thermal clipping.
