Tools You Will Need

• 10mm socket, extension, and ratchet
• 10mm wrench (for the battery terminal)
• 8mm socket or nut driver (for hose clamps)
• Panel popper tool or flathead screwdriver (for plastic push-pins)
• #2 Phillips screwdriver (JIS preferred, for the MAF sensor)
• Pliers (for the PCV breather hose spring clamp)

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench. This resets the ECU, preparing it to learn the new airflow parameters, and prevents electrical shorts.
2. Unplug the Sensors and Breathers: Locate the MAF sensor on the factory intake tube and carefully depress the tab to unplug the wiring harness. Next, use your pliers to squeeze the spring clamp on the PCV breather hose and pull the hose free from the main intake tube.
3. Remove the Fresh Air Scoop: Use your panel popper to carefully pry up the centers of the two plastic push-clips holding the factory air scoop above the radiator support. These plastics get very brittle from under-hood heat, so pry gently. Remove the scoop.
4. Loosen the Throttle Body Clamp: Grab your 8mm socket and loosen the factory hose clamp securing the rubber intake tube to the throttle body.
5. Extract the Airbox and Resonator: Remove the 10mm bolt securing the factory airbox to the driver’s side chassis. Pull the upper airbox and rubber intake hose out as one unit. To properly clear out the system (the "forum fix" to help reduce the dreaded CVT throttle lag), pull the massive lower plastic resonator box straight up and out of its rubber mounting grommets in the fender cavity.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Nissan Sentra (2013-2019) 1.8L Engine

1. Transfer the MAF Sensor: Using your #2 Phillips screwdriver, extract the two screws holding the MAF sensor in the factory airbox. Gently pull the sensor out. Transfer it immediately into the new aftermarket aluminum intake tube. Secure it using the supplied Allen bolts or hardware (do not reuse the soft factory screws if aftermarket hardware is provided).
2. Mount the Silicone Coupler: Slide the provided silicone reducer coupler onto the engine’s throttle body. Slip a hose clamp over it and tighten it down snugly using your 8mm socket. Slip a second, looser clamp over the outer edge of the coupler.
3. Route the New Intake Tube: Carefully maneuver the new intake tube into the engine bay, sliding the throttle body end into the silicone coupler. If your kit includes a heat shield or a mounting bracket, align it with the factory airbox chassis hole and secure it using the factory 10mm bolt. Tighten the throttle body hose clamp with your 8mm socket.
4. Connect the PCV and Air Filter: Push the factory PCV breather hose onto the nipple welded to the new intake tube, securing it with the factory spring clamp using your pliers. Slide the new high-flow cone filter onto the end of the intake pipe in the fender well area. Secure the filter clamp tightly with your 8mm socket.
5. Reconnect and Calibrate: Plug the MAF sensor wiring harness back into the sensor until you hear a click. Reconnect the negative battery terminal and tighten it with your 10mm wrench. CRITICAL: On the first startup, turn the key and do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. Let the vehicle idle so the ECU can adjust to the increased airflow without triggering a fault code.
