Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm socket, extension, and 3/8-inch drive ratchet (for airbox bolts and battery)
  • 8mm nut driver or deep socket (for all hose clamps)
  • Panel popper tool (to safely detach factory wire harness clips)
  • Silicone spray lubricant or soapy water (mandatory for safe sensor transfer)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The 2005-2010 WK 3.7L community knows the notorious throttle lag all too well, which this intake helps fix. However, to get there, you have to deal with the factory IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor. It is wedged into a dry-rotted rubber grommet on the factory intake tube. Do not pry it with a screwdriver. If you snap the plastic tip off, your Jeep will run terribly and throw a Check Engine Light. Twist it 90 degrees back and forth while pulling firmly straight out to break the seal.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and allow the ECU to reset for the new 2005-2010 Jeep Cherokee Grand Cherokee 3.7L intake volume.
  2. Unplug the IAT Sensor: Locate the Intake Air Temp sensor on the factory air tube. Depress the locking tab on the grey connector and pull the harness off. Use your panel popper to free any wire harness clips anchored to the factory airbox.

  3. Mount the Intake Tube: Slide the provided silicone coupler over the throttle body and tighten the throttle body side with your 8mm nut driver. Slide the new cold air intake tube into the coupler. Do not fully tighten the tube side clamp yet.
  4. Connect the PCV and Filter: Attach the supplied PCV breather hose from the engine block to the welded nipple on your new intake tube. Next, slide the high-flow air filter onto the end of the tube inside the heat shield compartment. Tighten the filter clamp and all remaining coupler clamps with your 8mm nut driver. Plug the factory wire harness back into your IAT sensor.
  5. The 20-Second Relearn: Reconnect your negative battery terminal and tighten it with your 10mm wrench. Start the vehicle. Do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. Let the 2005-2010 Jeep Cherokee Grand Cherokee 3.7L ECU read the new airflow data at idle and adjust the fuel trims accordingly. Check for any whistling sounds indicating a vacuum leak at the couplers.
