The Stock B4000 Cooling Shortcomings

The OEM cooling assembly relies on plastic end-tanks crimped onto a thin core paired with an engine-driven mechanical clutch fan. Over thermal cycling, the plastic tanks become brittle and develop micro-cracks along the crimp seam. Additionally, mechanical clutch fans fail to pull sufficient airflow at low engine RPMs during low-speed trail driving or heavy towing, creating heat soak in the Cologne 4.0L engine and placing excess thermal stress on transmission fluid running through the stock cooler.

The Engineering Solution

This heavy-duty unit features a 100% TIG-welded, all-aluminum construction with a vacuum-brazed 2-row core measuring 20.87 in x 23.54 in x 1.34 in. Eliminating plastic and epoxy seams removes high-pressure burst risks. The integrated 16-inch 120W electric fan delivers consistent high-volume CFM on demand via the included thermostat relay kit, independent of engine speed. A built-in transmission oil cooler (TOC) ensures automatic transmission line temps stay balanced.
