The factory intake system on the L319 LR4 is engineered primarily for NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) reduction rather than optimal airflow. The OEM dual air boxes utilize dense paper panel filters and baffled intake tracts that create significant turbulence and pressure drop before the air reaches the supercharger. This restriction becomes a severe choke point, inducing heat soak and starving the AJ126 3.0L V6 supercharger of the dense, cold air required for sustained power delivery, especially during heavy load, towing, or prolonged acceleration.

The Engineering Solution

This direct-fit dual performance air intake kit eliminates the factory bottlenecks by replacing both OEM air boxes with high-flow conical filters. By utilizing custom-engineered heat shields, the system effectively isolates the intake charge from engine bay heat, preventing the ECU from pulling timing due to high IATs (Intake Air Temperatures). The optimized piping creates a smooth, laminar airflow path directly to the throttle body, maximizing the efficiency of the Roots-type supercharger. This bolt-on upgrade installs in approximately 30 minutes and yields a proven 9-11 wheel horsepower increase, delivering sharper throttle response and enhanced supercharger whine without requiring custom tuning. It is supplied with all necessary high-flow filters, custom heat shields, heavy-duty clamps, and mounting hardware.
