Frequently Asked Questions

Will new coils clear a Fusion misfire code?

Yes, when the cause is a weak winding or a boot that no longer seals. P0300 is a random misfire. P0301 through P0304 cover the four-cylinder engines, and the V6 listings can show codes through P0306. Install the kit that matches the displacement. A 2.7L listing is not the 3.0L or 3.5L part.

Why do Fusion kits include iridium spark plugs?

Coils and plugs wear as a pair. A wide gap makes a fresh coil run hot and fail early. Changing both at once keeps combustion even and avoids doing the job twice.

How hard is a Fusion coil replacement?

On the 1.5L, 1.6L, 2.0L, 2.3L, and 2.5L engines the coils are on top of the valve cover. On the 2.7L, 3.0L, and 3.5L V6, the rear bank can require the upper intake to be loosened. Basic hand tools are enough. No connector splicing.
