The Stock F-150 & Expedition PCV Vulnerability

Ford's 2.7L, 3.5L EcoBoost, and 5.0L Coyote engines utilize closed Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) systems that route hot, atomized oil vapors directly back into the intake tract. In direct-injected engines like the EcoBoost family, fuel does not wash over the intake valves to keep them clean. This engineering compromise leads to severe carbon coking on the valve stems and crowns over time. As carbon accumulates, it restricts cylinder head airflow, causes pre-ignition (knock), diminishes fuel economy, and ultimately results in a noticeable loss of power. Forced induction applications, particularly the high-output Raptor 3.5L or Roush/Whipple supercharged 5.0L configurations, experience significantly higher crankcase pressures, which severely exacerbates oil accumulation within the intercooler and intake piping.

The Engineering Solution

This 400ml capacity baffled oil catch can intervenes directly in the PCV pathway to extract harmful contaminants. As hot, oily crankcase gases enter the TIG-welded billet aluminum chamber, the internal deflector and baffling system alter the airflow dynamics. This rapid directional change and temperature drop force the heavy oil particulate and unburned fuel vapors to condense against the internal surfaces. The liquid collects safely in the base of the reservoir, allowing only clean, oil-free air to pass into your engine. Key structural upgrades include an O-ring sealed threaded base to prevent vacuum or boost leaks, and a top-mounted multi-angle bracket for versatile installation routing. The kit includes reinforced hoses and strengthened clamps to secure lines securely under high boost pressures, ensuring your powertrain maintains optimal volumetric efficiency and detonation resistance.
