This performance air intake system is designed to replace the factory air box on 2006–2008 Honda Fit (Jazz) GD3 models equipped with the 1.5L L15A or L15A1 VTEC inline-4 engine. The system reduces intake restriction by eliminating the factory resonator and using mandrel-bent aluminum piping to create a direct air path to the throttle body. This results in improved throttle response, enhanced airflow efficiency, and improved performance across the RPM range.

The intake uses smooth aluminum tubing to replace the factory accordion-style intake hose and restrictive air box assembly. The mandrel-bent construction maintains consistent internal diameter throughout each bend, reducing turbulence in the intake path. The design allows the engine to breathe more efficiently, particularly in the upper RPM range where VTEC engagement occurs.

Installation Note:
Disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation and leave disconnected for at least 15 minutes. This allows the engine control unit to reset fuel trim adaptations. After reconnection, the ECU will relearn the modified airflow characteristics during initial startup and normal driving operation. This reset process optimizes fuel delivery and ignition timing for the new intake system.

Filter Maintenance

Inspection Schedule: Inspect the air filter every 5,000 miles and clean if necessary. Driving conditions such as dusty environments, urban traffic, or spirited driving may require more frequent inspection and cleaning.

Cleaning Procedure: Remove the filter from the intake tube. Gently tap the filter to remove loose debris. Apply an appropriate air filter cleaning solution (compatible with cotton gauze filters) to both the inside and outside of the filter element, working it into the filter media. Allow the cleaner to soak for approximately 10 minutes. Rinse the filter thoroughly with low-pressure water from the clean side out, continuing until water runs clear. Shake off excess water and allow the filter to air dry completely in a clean environment. Once fully dry, apply air filter oil evenly to the filter media according to product specifications. Allow the oil to wick through the filter material for approximately 20 minutes before reinstalling. Ensure the filter is completely dry before applying oil, as moisture will prevent proper oil absorption.

Sound Characteristics

VTEC Induction Sound: The removal of the factory resonator results in increased intake noise, particularly during VTEC engagement when the engine transitions to its high-RPM cam profile. The open-element filter design produces a more audible induction sound during acceleration compared to the factory intake system.
