Radiator for Ford Excursion (2000-2005) 6.8L 7.3L

Heavy-Duty 3-Row Aluminum Radiator for 2000-2005 Ford Excursion (U137)

What it Does: The heavy-duty 3-row aluminum radiator replaces the failure-prone factory cooling unit on the 2000-2005 Ford Excursion to prevent thermal runaway and maintain stable operating temperatures during high-load towing.

The Stock Ford Excursion Cooling Degradation

Factory radiators installed in the U137 chassis utilize crimped, composite plastic end tanks sealed to an aluminum core with elastomeric gaskets. Sustained thermal cycles, vibration, and high system pressures cause these plastic tanks to fatigue, embrittle, and hairline fracture. Simultaneously, internal corrosion and fin deterioration severely diminish heat dissipation, exposing the high-displacement 6.8L Triton V10 and turbocharged 7.3L Power Stroke engines to catastrophic head gasket failure and cylinder head distortion.

The Engineering Solution

Engineered for high-stress towing applications, this direct-fit radiator features an all-aluminum, 100% furnace-brazed 3-row core paired with robust, fully TIG-welded tanks. Eliminating polymer end tanks completely removes common seam blowouts and gasket leaks. With a deep 56mm core profile and precision louvered fins, heat transfer surface area is significantly increased over stock units, promoting rapid thermal exchange across 1.77-inch inlet and outlet passages compatible with both automatic and manual transmissions.

Frequently Asked Questions & Fitment Warnings

Does this fit the U137 Excursion?

Yes, this is a direct fit for the 2000-2005 Ford Excursion equipped with the 6.8L Triton V10 or 7.3L Power Stroke engines. Does not fit models equipped with the 5.4L V8 or 6.0L Power Stroke diesel engines.

Do I need to flush the cooling system during installation?

A complete cooling system flush and installation of fresh coolant are required to prevent residual contaminants from clogging the new high-efficiency core.

The Ford Heavy-Duty Standard

Constructed to withstand severe duty cycles and maximum GCWR payloads, this cooling component provides the structural durability and heat-rejection capacity demanded by heavy-duty Ford truck platforms.
