High Output Alternator for Plymouth Acclaim (1990-1995) 3.0L

High-Amperage 200A Alternator for 1990-1995 Plymouth Acclaim (AA Body)

What it Does: The 200A High Output Alternator replaces the low-output factory charging unit on the 1990-1995 Plymouth Acclaim to supply reliable 12V current and eliminate idle voltage drop under heavy electrical loads.

The Stock Plymouth Acclaim Charging System Limitations

Factory alternators on the **AA platform** generate minimal idle amperage, engineered strictly to support basic stock accessories. Inside the tight engine compartment of the **6G72** 3.0L V6, radiant exhaust manifold heat rapidly degrades the factory rectifier diodes and stator insulation. When powering high-draw electrical accessories, auxiliary lighting, or modern audio equipment, the OEM unit experiences thermal saturation, dropping system voltage below 12.5V, dimming lighting circuits, and starving the engine ignition system.

The Engineering Solution

Engineered as a direct bolt-on upgrade, this 200-amp unit features heavy-gauge, high-temperature copper stator windings wound around an internally balanced, low-inertia rotor. High-grade sealed cartridge bearings minimize mechanical drag and withstand sustained high-RPM operation. Heavy-duty internal avalanche diodes and an integrated solid-state voltage regulator maintain a rock-solid 13.5V to 14.5V output across the entire rev range, resisting thermal breakdown while retaining factory bracket geometry and OE plug compatibility.

Frequently Asked Questions & Fitment Warnings

Does this fit the AA platform Acclaim?

Yes, this is a direct fit for the 1990-1995 Plymouth Acclaim equipped with the **6G72** 3.0L V6 engine.

Do I need to upgrade the main charging cable?

To safely carry the full 200-amp capacity and prevent voltage drop, upgrading to a 4-gauge or larger main B+ charging wire and engine block ground is strongly advised.
