Catalytic Converter for GMC Canyon (2015-2022) 2.5L Front

Direct-Fit Front Catalytic Converter for 2015-2022 GMC Canyon (GMT 31XX)

What it Does: The direct-fit front catalytic converter replaces the restricted or chemically exhausted factory unit on the 2015-2022 GMC Canyon to eliminate diagnostic trouble codes and restore proper exhaust flow velocity.

The Stock GMC Canyon Catalytic Converter Failure

Over high-mileage heat cycles, the factory converter on the GMT 31XX platform deteriorates due to thermal fatigue and oil washcoat contamination. Unburnt hydrocarbons and extended exhaust heat can fracture the OEM internal monolith or melt the cell matrix, triggering stubborn P0420 or P0430 diagnostic trouble codes. This restriction impedes exhaust scavenging, choking engine breathing, diminishing fuel economy, and severely reducing throttle response under payload.

The Engineering Solution

Engineered for seamless direct-bolt replacement, this front catalytic assembly is encased in heavy-gauge 409 stainless steel to withstand thermal shock and road corrosion. Inside, an advanced cordierite ceramic honeycomb core is coated with an optimized palladium and rhodium washcoat to efficiently reduce CO, HC, and NOx into inert emissions. Laser-cut flanges and factory-positioned O2 sensor ports match the factory downpipe geometry precisely, preventing exhaust leaks without cutting or custom welding.

Frequently Asked Questions & Fitment Warnings

Does this fit the GMT 31XX Canyon?

Yes, this is a direct fit for the 2015-2022 GMC Canyon equipped with the 2.5L LCV engine. This federal EPA-compliant part cannot be shipped to or registered on vehicles in California, Colorado, New York, or Maine, and does not fit 3.6L V6 or 2.8L Duramax diesel models.

Will this converter resolve a P0420 catalytic efficiency code?

Yes, this converter replaces degraded internal core washcoats to clear efficiency codes, provided upstream engine misfires, oil leaks, and faulty oxygen sensors are corrected prior to installation.

The GMC Truck Standard

Engineered to handle grueling hauling conditions and prolonged trail duty, this rugged stainless replacement restores exhaust flow efficiency and vehicle reliability under high thermal stress.
