Ignition Coils Compatible with Volkswagen Touareg

Engine-bay heat hardens coil boots until a cylinder drops out under load. These coil and spark plug kits cover select Volkswagen Touareg applications from 2004-2017. One listing is the Phaeton Touareg 2004-2006 4.2L. It is not a kit for later Phaeton years. Browse performance parts compatible with Volkswagen or a performance tune for Volkswagen. Other models are in ignition parts for Volkswagen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Touareg engines do these ignition kits fit?

Select applications only: 3.2L (2004-2007), 4.2L (Phaeton Touareg 2004-2006 and Touareg 2011-2014), 4.2L V8 (2007-2008), 3.6L (2007-2008), 3.6L V6 (2009-2017), and 3.0L (2013-2015). A 3.0L kit is not the 3.6L V6 part. The Phaeton name appears on the 2004-2006 4.2L listing only.

Will replacing the coils fix a Touareg misfire code?

When the fault is spark, yes. P0300 means the miss is moving between cylinders. The 2009-2017 3.6L V6 can set a code through P0306. The 2007-2008 4.2L V8 can set a code through P0308. Coils and plugs do not repair a vacuum leak.

Should Touareg plugs be replaced with the coils?

Yes. Every listing pairs plugs with the coils, and several specify iridium plugs. The coils share the same miles, so a full set avoids the next cylinder failing a month later. Pull the engine cover, release each harness clip, and seat the new coil until it clicks. Let the engine cool first. The rear bank is the tight one.
