Ignition Coils and Spark Plug Kits for Volkswagen Beetle
A Beetle that shakes cold and smooths out once warm often has a coil boot that has gone hard. These kits cover select applications from 1998-2019 on 1.8L, 2.0L, and 2.5L engines. Two 2.5L listings and two 2.0L listings cover different years, so read the range before you order. Pair the refresh with cold air intakes compatible with Volkswagen or exhaust systems compatible with Volkswagen. See ignition parts for Volkswagen.
Select Beetle Years and Engines
Titles say Beetle. Match displacement and years. The 2014-2019 listing is the one that says 1.8L and 2.0L I4 together.
- 2.0L: 1998-2011 and a separate 2012-2013 listing
- 1.8L: 2000-2005
- 2.5L: 2006-2010 and a separate 2011-2019 listing
- 1.8L and 2.0L I4: 2014-2019
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Beetle years and engines do these coils fit?
Select applications from 1998-2019: 2.0L (1998-2011 and 2012-2013), 1.8L (2000-2005), 2.5L (2006-2010 and 2011-2019), and 1.8L and 2.0L I4 (2014-2019). The 2011 model year appears on both a 2.0L listing and a 2.5L listing. Use the displacement, not the year alone. A 2.5L kit is not the 2.0L part.
Will Beetle coils clear P0300?
They clear it when the cause is a weak coil or a plug that no longer fires. P0300 is a random misfire. A cylinder-specific code points at one hole. If the code returns after a new set, check for a vacuum leak or a fuel fault before you buy another coil.
What tools does a Beetle coil job need?
A ratchet, an extension, a spark plug socket, and a small screwdriver for the harness clips. Coils pull off the plugs once the clip is released. Put dielectric grease inside the boot. The 1998-2011 2.0L listing is not the 2012-2013 2.0L kit, even though both say 2.0L.
